The Evolution of Language in D&D

In D&D, elves live like 700 years. That's enough time for one language to be completely mutually unintelligible from its ancestor. And elf speaks to a common tongue from 500 years ago,. All of a sudden, another human shows up, and it's this like weird archaic old English or something. I would suggest you almost ended up with like class or register differences.
