The Sixth Extinction Is Now a Great Teacher
The sixth extinction is really teaching us how much we do love this world. It's so painful. And if we're feeling all that grief, the destruction is so massive, and we feel it so deeply, and that's teaching us. That's saying, look how kindred you are. Look how much you love this. You didn't know this 200 years ago. You don't know it enough now. But every day, more species lost, more individuals lost. So that's where I sort of start with the idea that the sixth extinction is now a great teacher. ...You don't really want to pay that kind of price for a teacher, but we don't have a choice.
