Why We Need a New Theory of Knowledge
We want to be rational. We should want to be logical, we should want to use our reason. But if our conception of what reason and logic and rationality is is in some way misconceived, then there will be certain misconceptions that using that particular scheme of rationality, we will never improve upon. Hence, we need a new theory of knowledge, a new epistemology, a new way of understanding rationality. And as i have been saying throughout my discussion of this book, what pinker does very well throughout this volume is to provide us with a deep and useful over view of what we might call the conventional model of rationality.
