How Did You Develop the Characters on Portlandia?
I mean, even some of the characters that you would eventually be on Portlandia were developed during this time. And then they became characters that we had all eight seasons of the show. I was very green as a writer and I will always credit a woman named Allison Silverman who we brought in. She is a very experienced writer, a ton of comedy shows that people have seen most recently, Russian doll. So anyway, so that's how it kind of went from just an idea, which is what it is - observation and anecdote into something absurd.
