I'm Trying to Deliver X, but It's Not X

I think it's fine to pursue whatever you want, right, if you get great meaning and joy out of just doing beautiful floré work on the floor. The critique that I think is important to be able to make is when someone says that their goal is X, and then the method to get there is actually completely misdirected. You say you're delivering X, and what you've delivered is extraordinary, but it's not X.
