The History of Fort Dietrich Maryland

The US government recruited over 1600 German and Austrian scientists. Many found a home at Fort Dietrich, including water shriber Eric Traub who we talked about last week. The information gained in this pilot plant shaped the fermenter technology that was ultimately used to revolutionize the production of antibiotics and other drugs. Building 470 was eventually torn down in 2003.
