Swamp of Solace in the Never Ending Story
The aid of swords card features a woman bound in rags. She's surrounded by eight sorts, and they are stuck in the swampy earth. This reminds me of the swamps of sadness in the never ending story doyou remember that? I love that movie. Swamp of sadness is a place in the land of fantasia that symbolically represents despair. Despair is when we give up, as you know.
The 8 of Swords appears when we WANT to do something, but sh*t keeps getting in our way. In this card we can see that the person in the image has forgotten her power, it’s almost like she believes so strongly that she is a prisoner that she no longer even tries to escape. When this card comes up, the rut you’re in usually has more to do with old habits and patterns than it does with current external circumstances - though it might not be an easy fix, there IS a way to free yourself.
