Introduction
Gramsci was born in Sardinia in 1891 and spent most of his short life working as a socialist organizer, politician, and journalist. He produced 3,000 pages of political theory, historical analysis, philosophical reflection, and cultural criticism. In these works, he contributed substantially to the development of modern Marxist theory.
