The Dangers of Home Birth
Maternal mortality rate dwindling towards zero in developed countries. Infant mortality rate is dwindling towards zero, and the only reason it hasn't dwindled more is because we now count babies that are born at very, very, very early times with low birth rates. There's a lot of romance about home birth; people have been having birth at home for millennia. But as you point out, in developing countries and poor countries, even a primitive primitive hospital is better for the baby.
