The Importance of Male Slavery
I felt like you explored masculinity really well in their characters, because Monroe and Zeke are essentially tasked with impregnating. That's the story here, right? We've got a breed and grow our slave population to keep the farm alive. And they come at their task in different ways. I think the character of Isaac in particular moved me because he's a decent guy and a spiritual guy and a family guy. He's got to leave his family and go do this, just completely inhuman. So that side of masculinity, like male slaves having to sort of deal with that kind of abuse and treatment.
