I tried to do an Irish accent as a 12 year old, but very fortunately about three days before the actual show, I bailed out of that. My media career could be over before it started as doing a terrible Irish accent for Bert, the Royal Guard. But I think the confidence you get from making it through, stuffing up, going to hospital, learning not to put your finger in stage doors, and learning not to do Irish accents gave me just enough confidence to then sign up for footy or tap dancing. And so it is a gradual thing that I don't think I was born with. It does, yeah, build it like many layers of paint. Eventually it becomes pretty thick
