The lead organizer of the Africa Bitcoin conference is basically a civil liberties advocate from Togo. She learned about Bitcoin and has put it forward as kind of an anti-colonial currency. I think that's one of the coolest parts about Bitcoin. It provides an escape. And until recently they didn't really have a way out.
