Rust is a functional programming language. It's actually more akin to the ML family of languages. I was always angry at bash because it just has horrible error handling. So I got into basically like rewriting all this developer tooling from bash with horrible error handling and started using Rust. Ended up joining the clippy team before he joined any of the other teams.
