The Fifth Amendment and the Jack Smith Investigation
The Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination is a trial right. It arises at trial when the government seeks to use your statement against you. Anything that these witnesses say in the grand jury, or frankly say even during these interviews with the district attorney that might incriminate themselves likely would not be able to be used by Jack Smith later on if he were to prosecute one of those electors. The big thing to keep an eye out for is whether Fawny Willis knows what she bought. When you give people immunity, usually you get a bit of a proffers to what they are saying.
