The Principle of Passive Modification
Man and form of man are one and the same thing. Matter also is an element of the combination, under this respect. It may be predicated of a subject, but this subject is identical with itself. Considered as a part, being is relative to something other than itself. But considered in its nature, in what it is, it is not predicable of anything. Being therefore is the principle from which all other things derive,. by which they exist.
