Mastodon and the Problems of Large Social Networks

In May, the FBI was investigating alleged crimes committed during a protest. They seized all electronic devices from someone suspected in this investigation. One of them contained an unencrypted copy of the database for a Mastodon instance. It does not appear that anything related to the Mastodon instance was relevant to the case being investigated.
