The Power of the Gods

Athena grabs Achilles by the hair and says, don't stab your commander in chief. The participation of the gods in heroic action magnifies the heroic choices. It makes them greater because these are men that struggled with and beside the gods. And so that the heroic action and divine intervention really coalesce into a rich, they call it an over-determined action on all levels.
