The Importance of Individual Responsibility
Darcy always felt that it was her fault, everything that happened to her. That made her feel like she had agency over her life as well. So I think I thought that since she was willing to take choices, I didn't need to do that for her. And so yeah, one way I think about this is that poverty just means there's so much less of a cushion when you make mistakes.
