John Torrington's Coffin on BG Island

In 1984, BD was able to get permission to perform autopsies on three of the bodies. These were the remains of William Brain, John Hartnell, and most infamously, John Torrington. Torrington was a 20-year-old who perished sometime after they got there when we don't know for sure. But what we do know is that his face was startlingly well-preserved after 140-some years due to cold temperatures.
