Introduction
Every country has one. Some people salute them, Others burn them. Fred brownell was told he had just a week to design a new national flag. He sketched an initial design on the back of his lecture programme. The authorities in south africa tried designers and asked for public submissions too. More than seven thousand were offered. But no-one could come up with something that would work. And so they turned to vexilographers who came up with this idea.
