How Does the Higgs Boson Work?

particle physicist didn't invent the idea of a higs field, like it didn't actually come from particle physics. We borrowed it from the guys who study super conductivity. If potons don't last forever, if they're not stable, then we can't rely on them to travel for billions and billions of years across the universe. Then it's pretty hard to predict what things are going to look like larger scales.
