Snake Venom: A Startling System
Snake venom is a cocktail of protein enzymes that would normally associate them with digestion. We make phospholipases because we need to break down the sorts of lipids in membranes. But if you get a snake version of this that's injected, it'll start tearing up your membranes which is very bad. Usually these things are used on small creatures, vermin, for example. It's not used necessarily to kill as much as it is used to immobilize.
