Knight Rider is based on the 1982 Pontiac Trans Am. The car was originally called TAT, which stood for Trans Am 2000. Car designer George Barris helped orchestrate production and created future versions of Kit. Since this was a sentient car, it needed a voice,. But which way do you go with this? You keep the voice generally robotic or give what is basically a supporting character and actual personality.
