Republican legislators in Florida gave the governor over $10 million to pay for recruiters and buses and planes. The immigrants who were sent to Martha's Vineyard filed a fraud lawsuit against Ron DeSantis, claiming they were deceived and coerced into getting on those planes. So I guess it's still an open verdict as to how this whole episode A is going to end and B, how it'll be viewed by history.

As conservative governors try to score political points by depositing busloads and planeloads of migrants in liberal cities, it can seem like an unprecedented exercise in cruelty. But it’s a page ripped from an earlier playbook in U.S. politics, one that was forgotten for decades for a very good reason.
