The Joys of the Intellect
I found myself almost reading the works of different figures that I'm attracted to, and at one period the Heidegger was one of those, almost like a co on. So, rather than my, I don't know, try and struggle through an entire book by Martin Heidegger, for example,. I'll try and allow my intuition to guide me to pick out key phrases, concepts or ideas and allow them to be objects of contemplation. And I found that has radically altered my relationship with intellectual life. It's no longer a retreat so to speak from the emotional or the body, but becomes actually a way of almost expanding my appreciation for human creativity, intelligence and culture more broadly.
