The most important day in all of our existence is going to be the judgment seat of God. And we are judged and we either go to heaven or we get condemned to the darkness. The ultimate application of this passage is that alms giving is a way of preparing ourselves to stand on that last day. For practicing mercy delivers from death, isn't it?
