The History of Transatlantic Slavery
In many parts of West Africa a genetic variation mutation gives high levels of resistance to malaria. This is some of the genetic stuff I'm talking about. It meant that if you can have populations who can have long life expectancies because they were genetically well suited or better suited to pathogens. So all these things take us into thinking about history in a slightly different ways, it's not just what we know battles and war and empire building in Europe. But how do you layer into those conversations to add in rather than to take away?
