So should Philip Lowe, the boss of the Reserve Bank, get the sack? The government is weighing up that decision right now as they look at a secret list of potential replacements and an announcement is expected very soon. Was the big guidance there a sacking offence? Did it seriously undermine the bank's credibility? Did it make the current fight against inflation any harder? Well these are all questions I'll discuss with a very senior economist who just finished up decades of work at the Reserve Bank.
