GE's Reactive Melt and Filtering Technology for Composites

We are using a reactive melt and filtrating. We're melting in silicon and reacting that with carbon to form silicon carbide. That density of the matrix, we get very low porosity under a couple of percent,. Is it the density that you can achieve with that method? Yes. And how are you adding those layers are using chemical vapor infiltration or something else. So that's the technology that we're using on our composites that are flying and the leap engine, and will be in the GE 9X engine on the 777X in the next year or two.
