In the Jungian model, you still have to make distinctions between things. And one of the problems I have when you take that critique too far is that then any distinction becomes a problem. Frodo hates Gollum because he's projecting his own self enslavement to the ring on to Gollum. He just wants to get away from the orcs so he can get to the volcano. His enemy is Gollum, and Gollum is a hobbit. The whole dynamic does play out in Lord of the Rings.
