The History of Women in Science
There were fewer women in physics, but they weren't nonexistent. Harriet Brooks was Ennis Rutherford's first research student in Montreal. She made some really important contributions to our understanding of radioactivity and radioactive decay. Her work led eventually between Rutherford and Frederick Soddy to the discovery of half-life.
