Is the Pope the World's Pastor?
The papal states were never intended as you know even if you buy into this sort of donation or Constantine and all that. The purpose of the papal states was it was a guarantee that no one could exercise temporal power over the pope. It would seem to me we'd call for a more restrained kind of role for the pope than has been the case for the last 40 years in many fronts.
