The Shingu is much more than just a river to the Jouruna. It provides them water, food, leisure, transportation and much more. In 2013, they started measuring all the fish they caught in the indigenous villages. They've been doing the sense so they can see how the fish abundance has dropped. Some species that they used to see before are becoming more scarce.
