Humayu's army camped on one bank of the Ganga. Facing them was Shar Shah's army and a face off ensued. Neither side wanted to squander away everything in a single day's fighting. Eventually they decided to come up with some sort of negotiated settlement. The idea was that Shar Shah would get some lands and in return he would acknowledge the source of the entity of Humayu. But anyway what happened on the night of 25th June 1539 is that Shar Shah's forces made an act of retreating. It was may have been around maybe 2 or 3am in the night but they wheeled around and went and attacked the Mughal camp at dawn hours
