Nuclear Weapons and the Cold War

Nuclear weapons were often the source of danger in James Bond movies. The level of anxiety is high in both Washington and Moscow, but each society is almost totally isolated from the other. We all know the Cuban Missile Crisis because it's just part of our common knowledge about the world. I think we don't realize how dangerous other times were.
