How Does the Rational Attention Model Work?
In reward environments were horizontal orientations were favored, there was a switch towards that side of the sensory space. But at the same time, they were sacrificing gain on trials which were less rewarded to act as rational and attentive agents. So basically, they were on the lookout for more horizontal oriented gratings when the reward was greatest.
