Introduction
Thomas Malthus argued that the size of the human population will always increase more quickly than our ability to feed ourselves. He saw plague famine and wars as natural mechanism designed to keep human numbers within manageable limits. His ideas were cited by Charles Darwin as a key influence in his theory of natural selection, they remain contentious today.
