Asser's Journey to Meet Alfred the Great

This chapter follows the monk Asser as he travels from St. David's to meet King Alfred the Great. Asser faces risks and xenophobia along the way, but eventually arrives in Sussex. The chapter explores the negotiations between Asser and Alfred, as well as Asser's motivations and his agreement to spend six months in Wessex and six months at St. David's.
