The Holocaust and the Impact of the Holocaust
The Holocaust impresses us because six million people died in six years and one thousand. But for the point of view of God running the world, it makes absolutely no difference whether the suffering is compressed into a small area of space and time or whether it's spread out. In one child, stubs his toe without an explanation that's already a complaint against God. Each pain is a complaint. Either you have a scheme for explaining pain. What does it mean? Indeed, the amount of suffering makes no difference altogether. Just imagine spreading out that suffering over six continents and spreading it out over 600 years. Would anyone have noticed? would there be symphosia on the subject?"
