In 1874, New York had skyscrapers of about 10 or 11 stories. They were taller than the church steeples and four and five story buildings. The elevator to pioneer the profits that are available in the skies. So there's not really an invention of the skyscraper. There's a demand for buildings that can concentrate people in space in valuable locations.
