Carrier came up with an entire table of calculations and to have the machinery that would back them up. He could find tuthis to produce whatever temperature, whatever humidity he liked. En this was a boon to industry, because there were many different manufacturing processes that needed specific humidity, specific temperature. Carrier knew it immediately, and apparently nobody else did. In his very first write up for it, in his advertising copy, he was saying that it could be used to cool public spaces.
