CHAPTER

Is There a Difference of Ability?

I think what it was was like, you know, there's a certain perception of people that look like me and what we can do. And as anyone who's worked with indian coders who are not good coders, some people commodities, come out of these universities with without too much hands on experience. So the stereotype is not always accurate. I just think that everyone should be allotted to graduate school by lottery, because everyone's equally talented. Even most people who get ph d, don't end up in tenure positions,. especially tenure positions at universities where they make yo no substantive impact on the research world.

And as i was working on a project, my my supervisor, my manager, said thing ousi, oh, but that was n't my clothes sample, so you know that i could do that, right? And he said, oh, i didn't look at the coates sample. I youlok at the coat sample. He just like, well, we just cont loked at youa, we just jassumed that you could coat s ijust, like, all right. I think what it was was like, you know, there's a certain perception of people that look like me and what we can do. And that's worked out positively in a lot of ways for me. But it shouldn't. As anyone who's worked with indian coders who are not good coders, you know, some people commodities, come out of these, you know, universities with without too much hands on experience. So the stereotype is not always accurate. Again, i said, i cus 50 % for later with income. There's always aresidual. There always people that are not hinting your expectations. And so i think the goal here is a kenneli gum. You know, billy bean had the study of money ball, you know, that was written about for the open days, where you use your metric to try to zero in on people who are undervalued a. But if you get rid of metrix, how are you going to do that? Right? It's ot me, that's the ultimate thing, tom. I think the implicit idea that's being promoted here is that there is no talent, there is no difference of ability. There's everything is equal. And so, you know, i, i, i, i'm a full accelerationist troll about this. I just think that everyone should be allotted to graduate school by lottery, because everyone's equally talented. Right now, i say this, i say this to the face, like i say is on twitter to academics. They do't really respond. The reason they don't respond sthey don't want to admit that that's just false, because there's ideology right now that's justlike, ludicrous on the face of it, that all people, you know, have talent in all ways. You no, no, people aren't going to say that everyone can be in the mba, ok, like, they have their limitations, but somehow everyone can be a professor. No, believe it or not, you know, it's hard. You know. It's not like being a, it's not like being librod james. It's not like being in the mba. But a, being an academic, i mean, even most people who get ph d, don't end up in tenure positions, especially tenure positions at universities, where they make yo no substantive impact on the research world. So, and in fact, the ones that are ong to be remembered 50 years from now, it will be. I i bet, i bet you like, fewer scientists who will be remembered 50 years from now than mba players alive to day. Like, in terms of the people who have impact, like, whom do we remember from the 19 fifties? You can probably, you know, like a hundred. You name a hundred. That's like 95 % of the mine share, 99 % of the mine share. And so, ah, how you pick your s? I think it's kind of important. But, you know, other people disagree. I mean, in public, a lot of his faith, ah, you know, a lot of his preference falsification came e carrans concept.
