Is the Met Really a Good Place to Start?
I think any institution that collects anything or does research on anything, they essentially become an archive. We really should be more careful about what we save just because we run out of room. What people deem not important today may be important to 100 years from now. And I'm also an immigrant in a country where sometimes the immigrants in the United States outnumber the country they came from. It's important that those people have an opportunity to see their culture without having to travel and spend the money to go back.
