The birds which are the most significant are terns and noddies. Once you get within about 30 to 50 miles of shore, you will start to see some familiar species that are somewhat reliable. You s not just like you see the birds and then you immediately know what's up. If you see booby birds, frigate birds, terns and notties, you know you're close.
