I've never found group selection particularly persuasive because what you need for group selection to work on a large scale is for groups to die frequently and regularly. I'm towards the individual end of things. So would you almost say in a sense that life, what kind of locally working to preserve order is actually globally kind of a mechanism for accelerating the pace of the process underlying the second law of the dynamics? It's certainly part of the process of creating entropy. You're right. Life is the energy that flows through life ends up causing being dispersed and causing more entropy at the end than on the way.
