Kobsar - A Poem of the Ukrainian Folklore
Shukhenko began writing poetry when he was still a Serf. His first small collection of poetry entitled The Kobsar appeared in St. Petersburg at the age of 26. Sichenko's poetry from this collection was consonant with the Kobsar songs and with folk Ukrainian doomas, these folk songs. On one side, it was the durability of all tradition of the past. And on the other side, he joined the literary process of the 19th century to the past.
