The History of Radium
After Fermi, Radium had been the primary element for radiation experiments. It was used in hair tonics, bath salts, face creams and suppositories. One of the most popular toothpaste at the time was Radium toothpaste. The discovery that any element could be made radioactive under the right conditions led to radium being extracted from it.
