Is There a Difference Between Patents and Productivity?

Inventors tend to cite more patterns for every pattern that they create after they move to a high tech cluster, which suggests that they're getting more information about what other people are doing. They would get like a 12% rising productivity for the same inventor working in the same firm. The patterns that they do after moving to a larger high tech cluster also tend to be higher quality. So while this clustering of activity may something that exacerbates inequalities, it's also that brings some aggregate gains, right?
