There are some very interesting things in the cat in the hat. Did you notice that the mother is single with the cat in a hat? Is that something you picked up on? Right? No father. One father figure, but theCat in the hat, I think kind of plays a substitute for that a temporary substitute father figure. There's lots of mercurial symbolism baked into what he represents. And it's really interesting that the magician actually corresponds with mercury.
