The First Day of Rehearsals

In just five weeks time, the show will have its world premiere on the Royal Opera House main stage to an audience of over 2000. Backstage is a warren of narrow corridors with Tanoi announcements and staff pushing costume rails. At the centre of this maze is Wayne's dressing room, an oasis of calm, complete with essential oil diffuser. When I arrive, he's flicking through Anna's musical score, scribbled with notes.
